Primary Services Portal

The Department of Environment and Primary Industries sought to centralise their services via an online portal. Until this move to digital, any farming, land, animal husbandry or environmental permits, registrations, required a visit to a state office location in person. This meant that a farmer wanting to breed chickens, would have to go to Bendigo to apply for a husbandry permit, and then go to Swan Hill 3 hours away, to get a licence to use antibiotics in the chicken feed. This was a major pain point for farmers throughout Victoria who needed to be at the farm, and hands-on for their daily work.
My role in this project was to drive the experience side of the portal. From learning more about our target audience, their needs and painpoints, to developing best flows and interactions through the portal for the two majory users (government staff and customer/farmer), and doing user testing & validation with farmers.
